Brewbound Live Winter 2019 | Pitch Slam Application
Pitch Slam Overview
The Pitch Slam is an opportunity to pitch your brand to the Brewbound Live audience (peers, investors, consultants, distributors, suppliers) and our esteemed panel of industry judges (TBA).

Selection Process
Brewbound staff members will select finalists based on the strength of their applications. Finalists will not be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Decisions by the selection committee are final. Application deadline is Friday, November 15.

Pitch Slam Format
Day 1: Up to 15 semi-finalists begin the competition with a half-day of education and one-on-one conversations with respected beer industry veterans, leading up to a round of tight, concise pitches. 6 brands will then be selected for the finals.

Day 2: The chosen finalists will pitch their company on the Brewbound Live Winter 2019 stage. Brand owners will have three minutes to deliver their pitch, followed by a four minute Q&A with the judges. Participants will provide two different products -- one to be consumed prior to the competition and one during -- that the judges will evaluate.

Prize
In addition to being crowned the winner of Brewbound Live Pitch Slam 11, the top finalist will be awarded a $10,000 awareness package and an all-expenses-paid trip to Portland, Oregon. There, key members from the winning company will meet with, and learn from, Craft Brew Alliance executives. They will also take an extensive tour of the company's production brewery, participate in Widmer Brothers' daily taste panel and receive business coaching from the CBA team. The winner will also receive free registration to the Brewbound Live conference in 2020.

Applicant Criteria
We ask companies to meet the following criteria, but reserve the right to make exceptions.
  • Companies are generally under 5 years old, including pre-launch, but local-legends who want to become serious about scale will also be considered
  • Brand revenue of $2 million or less
  • Company funding of $1 million or less
  • Brand produces beer, alcoholic seltzer, cider, hard kombucha and/or cannabevs
  • Company must be in good legal and financial standing (e.g. not in bankruptcy protection)
  • Company must be based in the U.S., or Canada with the U.S. as its primary target market
  • Must be able to provide samples of one or more styles. This must be packaged in a bottle, can, growler or crowler (no draft)
  • Presenting Finalist(s) must be registered to attend Brewbound Live 2019.
About the Application
The following questionnaire will provide the Brewbound team with the information we need to understand you & your company, and help us decide who the semi-finalists will be. It is three pages long and asks for basic contact information, a general description of your product and a brief financial and company overview.

With many applications expected, and a limited number of openings, we have an incredibly difficult selection job, but at the same time we also understand how busy running a business can be! The questionnaire should take no longer than 10 minutes of your time, even when completed with care.

The prospect of pitching on the Brewbound Live stage is a big deal, and it's important that everyone who considers applying has a full understanding of the selection process and competition itself. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to Bryce McDonald at bmcdonald@brewbound.com.
